History of Austria
Austria's history is rich and complex, beginning with the Roman Empire and evolving through various empires and kingdoms. In the Middle Ages, it became part of the Holy Roman Empire. The Habsburg dynasty, ruling from the 13th century, expanded its influence across Europe, creating a powerful empire. After World War I, the empire dissolved and Austria became a republic. It faced annexation by Nazi Germany in 1938 and was liberated after World War II. Austria then established itself as a neutral country during the Cold War and became part of the European Union in 1995, contributing to its cultural and economic development.
