Heuristic-systematic model

The Heuristic-Systematic Model (HSM) is a psychological theory explaining how people process information when forming opinions or making decisions. It suggests there are two main ways we think: heuristically and systematically. Heuristic processing relies on mental shortcuts and quick judgments, often based on emotions or previous experiences. Systematic processing involves more detailed analysis and careful consideration of information. Essentially, when faced with new information, we might either rely on quick instincts or take the time to think critically about it, depending on our motivation and the situation.
