Harlem Hellfighters

The Harlem Hellfighters was an African American infantry regiment, formally known as the 369th Infantry Regiment, that fought for the United States during World War I. They were renowned for their bravery and effectiveness in combat, spending more time in continuous combat than any other American unit. Despite facing racism and discrimination at home, they earned respect for their exceptional performance, particularly in battles like the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. The regiment was awarded the Croix de Guerre by the French government for their heroism, and they played a significant role in paving the way for future generations of Black soldiers.
