The Harlem Hellfighters

The Harlem Hellfighters was an African American infantry regiment, officially known as the 369th Infantry Regiment, that fought bravely during World War I. They were the first U.S. troops to arrive in combat in Europe and spent 191 days in the front lines, earning accolades for their courage and performance. Despite facing racial prejudice at home and during their service, they distinguished themselves in battle, contributing significantly to the war effort and earning the nickname "Hellfighters" due to their fierce fighting spirit. Their legacy represents both the heroism of Black soldiers and the struggle for racial equality in the U.S. military.
