Gurmukhi Script

Gurmukhi is an alphabetic script used primarily for writing the Punjabi language, predominantly in the Indian state of Punjab. Developed in the 15th century by Guru Angad Dev, the second Sikh Guru, it was designed to promote literacy and accessibility to religious texts. Gurmukhi consists of 41 letters, including vowels and consonants, and is written from left to right. Its name means "from the mouth of the Guru," reflecting its spiritual significance. Gurmukhi is not only foundational for Sikh religious scriptures but also plays a crucial role in Punjabi literature and culture.
