Group of Eight

The Group of Eight (G8) was an organization of eight major industrialized nations: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Established to discuss and coordinate economic policies, the group addressed global issues like trade, security, and climate change. Although it played a significant role in international discussions, Russia's membership was suspended in 2014 due to geopolitical tensions, leading to a focus on the Group of Seven (G7). The G8's meetings promoted collaboration among these influential countries to shape global policies and foster economic stability.
