Great Heathen Army
The Great Heathen Army was a coalition of Norse warriors, primarily Vikings, that invaded and settled in England during the late 8th and 9th centuries. Beginning in 865 AD, this army aimed to conquer territories that were part of the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms. Led by prominent Viking figures like Ivar the Boneless and Ubbe, their campaigns significantly influenced England’s culture and politics. The army's actions contributed to a series of conflicts known as the Viking Age, leading to the establishment of Norse influence in parts of England and the eventual formation of the Danelaw, a region under Viking control.
