Government of Italy

The Government of Italy operates as a parliamentary republic. This means that the country has a President, who serves as the head of state, and a Prime Minister, who is the head of government. The Prime Minister leads the Cabinet, made up of ministers responsible for various government departments. Italy's Parliament has two houses: the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, both of which create laws and oversee the government. Elections are held regularly, allowing citizens to choose their representatives. The Italian Constitution, established in 1948, guarantees democratic principles and civil rights for all citizens.
