Giordano Bruno
Giordano Bruno was an Italian philosopher, mathematician, and astronomer in the late 16th century. He is best known for his ideas about the universe, proposing that it is infinite and contains many worlds, a concept that challenged the geocentric view of the universe held by the Church at the time. Bruno also advocated for the idea of an infinite cosmos and the possibility of life beyond Earth. His views led to his persecution and execution by the Roman Inquisition in 1600. Bruno is often remembered as a martyr for intellectual freedom and scientific inquiry.
