Gangneung is a coastal city in South Korea, significant for its rich cultural heritage and historical context. It served as a prominent center during the Goryeo Dynasty (918-1392) and was known for its role in trade and maritime activities. The city is famous for its beautiful beaches, traditional crafts, and as the site of historical events, including the struggles against Japanese invasions. Today, it celebrates cultural festivals and is recognized for its historical sites, such as the Ojukheon House, where the renowned Confucian scholar Yulgok was born. Gangneung also gained international attention during the 2018 Winter Olympics.
