
Gangneung Danoje
Gangneung Danoje is a traditional Korean festival held annually in Gangneung, celebrating community, nature, and cultural heritage. Originating over a thousand years ago, it coincides with the Dano holiday on the 5th day of the lunar month. The festival features colorful rituals, folk games, performances, and ceremonies to ward off evil spirits and promote health and harmony. Recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, it preserves unique customs like mask dances, traditional music, and the sharing of special foods, serving as a vibrant expression of local identity and historical tradition.
