Fetal distress

Fetal distress refers to signs that a fetus is not receiving enough oxygen or is experiencing stress during pregnancy or labor. This can be detected through changes in the baby's heart rate, which may become too fast or too slow. Causes can include issues like umbilical cord compression, labor complications, or placental problems. When fetal distress is identified, medical professionals may take actions such as changing the mother’s position, providing oxygen, or, if needed, delivering the baby by cesarean section to ensure the baby’s safety and health.
