Federal Shariat Court
The Federal Shariat Court (FSC) is a specialized court in Pakistan that ensures laws are in line with Islamic principles. Established in 1980, it reviews legislative acts, interpretations, and practices to determine their compliance with Sharia (Islamic law). The court can also hear appeals against decisions from lower courts when these involve Sharia issues. It plays a vital role in the legal system, particularly regarding matters of personal status, family law, and criminal law, ensuring that Pakistani laws reflect Islamic values while also maintaining the rights of citizens as defined in the Constitution.
