Farm Laws
The Farm Laws 2020 were three laws introduced in India aimed at reforming the agricultural sector. They allowed farmers to sell their produce directly to buyers outside of traditional markets, aimed to promote contract farming, and removed stockholding limits on certain crops. Supporters argued these reforms would enhance farmers' income and reduce middlemen's role. However, many farmers feared it would favor large corporations, weaken their bargaining power, and disrupt existing market structures. This led to significant protests, reflecting deep concerns about agricultural policies and the future of farming in India. The laws were later repealed in 2021.
