Familial Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma

Familial Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma (FMTC) is a rare hereditary cancer that affects the thyroid gland. It is part of a genetic syndrome called Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 2 (MEN 2), which can also cause tumors in other endocrine glands. FMTC specifically leads to the development of medullary thyroid carcinoma, a type of thyroid cancer that arises from specific cells in the thyroid.
