Energy systems
Energy systems in the body refer to the processes that generate, store, and use energy to fuel physical activity and bodily functions. They include three main pathways: the phosphagen system for immediate energy during short, intense efforts; the anaerobic system for moderate to high-intensity activity lasting up to a couple of minutes; and the aerobic system for sustained, lower-intensity exercise lasting longer periods. These systems work together seamlessly, providing the necessary energy depending on the activity's intensity and duration, ensuring the body can perform a wide range of movements efficiently.
