Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a network management protocol used to automatically assign IP addresses to devices on a network. When a device, like a smartphone or computer, connects to a network, DHCP assigns it an IP address from a predefined range. This process simplifies the management of network settings, as devices don't need manual configuration to connect. DHCP also provides other important information, such as the network's gateway and DNS servers, ensuring that devices can communicate effectively and access the internet without user intervention.
