Dual-Use Items

Dual-use items are products or technologies that can be used for both civilian and military purposes. For example, some chemicals can be used in agricultural production but also to create chemical weapons. Similarly, certain technologies might be used for peaceful applications, like space exploration, but could also enhance military capabilities. Because of their potential for misuse, international regulations often control the export of dual-use items to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands or being used in ways that could threaten security or promote conflict.
