DJ Kool Herc

DJ Kool Herc, born Clive Campbell in 1955 in Jamaica, is a pioneering figure in hip-hop music. He is widely credited with developing the breakbeat technique, which involves isolating and extending the instrumental segments of songs, especially the "breaks" where the beat is most prominent. This innovation allowed him to keep the dance floor energized at parties in the South Bronx during the 1970s.
