Breakbeat

Breakbeat is a type of electronic music rhythm that features irregular or syncopated drum patterns, often derived from sampled drum loops from funk, jazz, or rock recordings. Unlike steady four-on-the-floor beats found in many dance genres, breakbeats emphasize a more complex, off-grid groove that creates a dynamic, energetic feel. They are commonly used in genres like breakdancing, hip-hop, and drum and bass. Producers manipulate these sampled beats—chopping, looping, and layering—to craft catchy, rhythmically interesting tracks that inspire movement and creativity.
