Disorganized Attachment

Disorganized attachment occurs when a child shows inconsistent or contradictory behaviors toward their caregiver. This often arises in environments where the caregiver is a source of both comfort and fear, such as in cases of neglect or abuse. As a result, the child may approach the caregiver for support but then withdraw or appear confused. This attachment style can lead to difficulties in relationships and emotional regulation later in life, as children with disorganized attachment often struggle to feel secure and may have trouble forming healthy connections with others.
