Depth of Knowledge

Depth of Knowledge (DOK) refers to the complexity and intricacy of understanding and applying information. It categorizes tasks based on the level of cognitive demand required. For example, DOK Level 1 involves basic recall of facts, while Level 2 requires deeper understanding and application, Level 3 involves reasoning and problem-solving, and Level 4 entails making connections and synthesizing information across different contexts. Essentially, DOK helps assess how deeply a person understands a subject, moving from surface-level knowledge to more profound insight and critical thinking.
