Webb's Depth of Knowledge Model

Webb’s Depth of Knowledge (DOK) Model categorizes tasks based on the complexity of thinking required. It has four levels: Level 1 involves recall of facts or simple procedures; Level 2 requires skills like comparing or organizing information; Level 3 involves applying concepts in new situations; and Level 4 demands complex reasoning, analyzing, or evaluating multiple sources. Essentially, it helps educators design and assess tasks to ensure students are engaging with material at an appropriate level of intellectual demand, promoting deeper understanding and critical thinking beyond basic memorization.
