Delhi Durbar

The Delhi Durbar was a grand official event held during British rule in India, typically every 10 years, to showcase the authority of the British monarch over India. It featured elaborate ceremonies, processions, and displays of power, often attended by Indian royalty, dignitaries, and thousands of spectators. The most notable Durbars occurred in 1877, 1903, and 1911, with the 1911 event marking the coronation of King George V and Queen Mary, and the transfer of the imperial capital from Calcutta to Delhi. These gatherings symbolized imperial dominance and were key moments in India's colonial history.
