David Hubel

David Hubel was a renowned neuroscientist known for his research on how the brain processes visual information. Along with Torsten Wiesel, he discovered how specialized cells in the brain’s visual cortex respond to specific visual features like lines and edges. Their work helped reveal how the brain interprets complex visual scenes from simple components, advancing our understanding of vision and perception. In recognition of these contributions, Hubel and Wiesel received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1981. His research significantly shaped neuroscience and our knowledge of sensory processing.
