Dandi March
The Dandi March, also known as the Salt March, was a nonviolent protest led by Mahatma Gandhi in 1930 against British colonial laws that imposed a tax on salt in India. Gandhi and a group of followers marched approximately 240 miles from Sabarmati Ashram to the coastal village of Dandi to collect salt from the sea, symbolizing defiance against unjust laws. The march galvanized nationwide support for India's independence movement, highlighting the power of civil disobedience and nonviolent resistance. It remains a significant event in India's struggle for freedom from British rule and illustrates Gandhi's philosophy of nonviolent protest.
