Cycloplegic Refraction
Cycloplegic refraction is an eye examination technique used to determine a person's true prescription for glasses or contact lenses. During this procedure, eye drops are used to temporarily relax the muscles that control the lens of the eye, preventing them from adjusting focus. This allows an eye care professional to measure the eye's refractive error more accurately, free from the influence of accommodation (the eye's ability to change focus). Cycloplegic refraction is particularly useful for children or patients with certain conditions, ensuring precise measurements for effective vision correction.
