Cryptosporidiosis

Cryptosporidiosis is an illness caused by a tiny parasite called Cryptosporidium, which often contaminates water sources. People can become infected by drinking or swimming in contaminated water, or through contact with infected animals or people. Symptoms typically include watery diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, and fever. Most healthy individuals recover without treatment, but it can be serious for those with weakened immune systems, such as individuals with HIV/AIDS. Prevention involves practicing good hygiene, such as washing hands thoroughly and avoiding drinking untreated water.
