Crossmatch Test
A crossmatch test is a laboratory procedure used primarily in blood transfusions and organ transplants to ensure compatibility between a donor and a recipient. It involves mixing a small sample of the recipient's blood with the donor's blood to check for any immune reactions. If the recipient's immune system recognizes the donor's blood as foreign, it may attack it, leading to serious complications. Therefore, a successful crossmatch indicates that the blood or organ is likely to be safe for the recipient, reducing the risk of rejection or adverse reactions.
