Critical Language Scholarship

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) is a U.S. government program designed to promote the study of languages that are critical to America’s global engagement. It offers fully-funded summer language immersion programs for undergraduate and graduate students, focusing on languages such as Arabic, Chinese, and Persian, among others. The goal is to enhance linguistic skills and cultural understanding, thereby fostering better international communication and relations.
