Decolonialism
Decolonialism is a movement and perspective that seeks to challenge and undo the lasting impacts of colonialism—where powerful countries imposed their control, culture, and systems on other regions. It aims to empower formerly colonized peoples by restoring their identities, traditions, and sovereignty, and by questioning global structures that continue to favor Western ways of thinking. Essentially, decolonialism calls for recognizing and valuing diverse worldviews and histories that were marginalized or suppressed during colonial rule, fostering greater equity and respect in global and local contexts.
