Corneal Transplant
A corneal transplant, or keratoplasty, is a surgical procedure that replaces a damaged or diseased cornea (the clear front part of the eye) with a healthy donor cornea. This surgery can improve vision, reduce pain, and enhance the appearance of the eye. It is typically recommended for conditions such as corneal scarring, keratoconus, or infections. The procedure involves removing the affected cornea and stitching the donor cornea in place. Recovery times vary, but many patients experience significant visual improvement. Like all surgeries, it carries risks, including rejection of the donor tissue, but success rates are generally high.
