Continental Army
The Continental Army was the military force formed by the American colonies during the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783). Established by the Continental Congress, it was tasked with fighting against British rule and securing independence for the colonies. George Washington was appointed as its commander-in-chief. The army faced numerous challenges, including a lack of training, supplies, and funding, but it ultimately played a crucial role in the success of the revolution, especially with key victories at battles like Saratoga and Yorktown. The Continental Army's efforts helped establish the United States as a sovereign nation.
