Compact for a National Popular Vote
The Compact for a National Popular Vote is an agreement among U.S. states to ensure that the president is elected by the nationwide popular vote rather than the Electoral College system. States that join the compact commit to awarding their electoral votes to the candidate who receives the most votes nationally, but this only takes effect if states totaling at least 270 electoral votes join. The aim is to enhance democratic principles by giving equal weight to every vote across the country, thereby making every citizen's vote more impactful in presidential elections.
