Comisión Nacional de Verdad y Reconciliación

The Comisión Nacional de Verdad y Reconciliación (National Commission on Truth and Reconciliation) was established in Peru in 2001 to investigate human rights abuses during the internal armed conflict from 1980 to 2000. Its purpose was to uncover the truth about acts of violence, help victims and their families, recommend reparations, and promote reconciliation in a divided society. The commission documented thousands of cases of violence and presented recommendations to prevent future conflicts, fostering a culture of truth and justice in Peru.
