Informe Rettig
The Informe Rettig was a report released in 1991 by the Rettig Commission in Chile, documenting human rights abuses and abuses during the military dictatorship (1973–1990). It specifically focused on cases of disappearances, torture, and killings of political opponents. The report aimed to acknowledge these atrocities, provide some measure of justice for victims’ families, and promote reconciliation. While not assigning legal guilt, it highlighted systemic human rights violations and contributed to Chile’s efforts to confront its past, serving as an important step toward transparency and accountability in the country’s history.
