Co-operative Commonwealth Federation
The Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) was a Canadian political party founded in 1932 that aimed to promote social justice and economic reform. It emerged during the Great Depression as a response to widespread poverty and unemployment. The CCF advocated for policies such as public ownership of key industries, social welfare programs, and workers' rights. It emphasized cooperation and collective well-being over individualism. The party later evolved into what is now known as the New Democratic Party (NDP), continuing its legacy of advocating for social democracy and progressive policies in Canada.
