CCF (Co-operative Commonwealth Federation)

The Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) was a Canadian political movement founded in 1932 that aimed to promote social justice, economic reform, and democracy. It sought to address issues like poverty, inequality, and poor working conditions by advocating for government-led programs, public ownership of key industries, and social welfare policies. The CCF was a precursor to Canada’s modern social democratic parties, notably the New Democratic Party (NDP). It emphasized cooperation among citizens and progressive reforms to build a fairer, more equitable society. The CCF played a significant role in shaping Canada's welfare state and labour policies during the mid-20th century.
