Clarke Orbit
A Clarke Orbit, named after science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke, refers to a specific type of geostationary orbit located approximately 35,786 kilometers (22,236 miles) above the Earth's equator. In this orbit, satellites move in sync with the Earth's rotation, allowing them to stay fixed over a particular point on the ground. This is ideal for communication satellites, as they can maintain constant connections with antennas on Earth, providing seamless services like television broadcasting and internet access. Essentially, they act as a stationary relay station in the sky.
