CJD (Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease)
Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) is a rare, degenerative brain disorder caused by misfolded proteins called prions. These abnormal proteins trigger brain damage, leading to rapid cognitive decline, memory loss, personality changes, and coordination issues. CJD can occur spontaneously, be inherited, or result from exposure to infected tissue, such as through certain medical procedures. Symptoms typically develop quickly, and the disease is fatal, usually within a year of onset. While there is no cure, researchers continue to study CJD to better understand its causes and potential treatments.
