Civic Assimilation

Civic assimilation refers to the process where individuals or groups adopt the values, norms, and behaviors that are commonly accepted within a society, particularly in relation to civic duties and rights. This includes becoming engaged in community life, understanding and participating in democratic processes, and embracing the legal and social frameworks of the host country. Unlike cultural assimilation, which focuses more on adopting cultural traits, civic assimilation centers on active participation in civic life, fostering a sense of belonging and shared responsibility within the broader community.
