Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy

Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) is a progressive brain disease linked to repeated head injuries, often seen in athletes like football players and boxers. It arises from the accumulation of a protein called tau, which disrupts normal brain function. Symptoms can include memory loss, mood changes, and cognitive difficulties, typically emerging years or decades after the injuries. CTE can significantly impact quality of life, leading to emotional and behavioral issues. Currently, there is no cure, and diagnosis can only be confirmed posthumously through brain examination. Awareness is growing about prevention and the long-term effects of head trauma.
