Dr. Bennett Omalu

Dr. Bennett Omalu is a Nigerian-American neuropathologist who identified chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain disease caused by repeated head injuries, notably in football players. His research revealed that football players and others exposed to repeated blows to the head could develop serious brain problems. Despite initial resistance from the sports community, his findings changed how we understand sports-related brain injuries and prompted safety improvements.
