Christian Goldbach
Christian Goldbach was an 18th-century German mathematician best known for Goldbach's Conjecture, which posits that every even integer greater than two can be expressed as the sum of two prime numbers. He proposed this idea in a letter to mathematician Leonhard Euler in 1742. Although the conjecture has been tested extensively and holds true for vast numbers, it has yet to be proven for all even integers. Goldbach's work has significantly influenced number theory, and his conjecture remains one of the oldest unsolved problems in mathematics.
