Charles Cornwallis

Charles Cornwallis was a British Army officer and colonial administrator known for his role in the American Revolutionary War. He served as a key general for the British forces, notably leading troops during significant battles. Cornwallis is perhaps best remembered for his surrender at the Siege of Yorktown in 1781, which was a pivotal moment that helped ensure American independence. After the war, he became Governor-General of India, where he implemented important reforms.
