Central Sleep Apnea
Central Sleep Apnea (CSA) is a sleep disorder where your brain temporarily fails to send signals to the muscles that control breathing. Unlike obstructive sleep apnea, which is caused by a blockage in the airway, CSA occurs when your brain doesn't properly regulate breathing during sleep. This can lead to irregular breathing patterns, causing you to wake up frequently and feel fatigued during the day. Factors like heart conditions, stroke, or certain medications can contribute to CSA. Treatment may include lifestyle changes, CPAP machines, or addressing underlying health issues to improve sleep quality.
