Mixed Sleep Apnea

Mixed sleep apnea is a type of sleep-disordered breathing that combines two forms: obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and central sleep apnea (CSA). In obstructive sleep apnea, the throat muscles relax too much during sleep, blocking airflow. In central sleep apnea, the brain fails to send the proper signals to the muscles that control breathing. People with mixed sleep apnea experience interruptions in their breathing patterns during sleep due to both airway blockages and issues with brain signaling. This condition can lead to poor sleep quality, daytime fatigue, and other health problems, necessitating proper diagnosis and treatment.
