Cardinal Francesco Barberini

Cardinal Francesco Barberini (1597-1679) was an influential Italian churchman and diplomat during the Baroque period. A member of the prominent Barberini family, he served as a cardinal from 1623 and was closely associated with Pope Urban VIII, his uncle. Barberini played a key role in the politics of the Catholic Church, aimed at strengthening its influence in Europe.
