CAR-T19

CAR-T19 is a type of immunotherapy used to treat certain blood cancers, particularly some leukemias and lymphomas. It involves modifying a patient's own T-cells (a type of immune cell) to recognize and attack cancer cells. The "CAR" stands for Chimeric Antigen Receptor, which is a special protein that is added to the T-cells, allowing them to identify and bind to a specific marker on the cancer cells. After these engineered T-cells are infused back into the patient, they seek out and destroy the cancer cells, leading to potential remissions in patients who have not responded to other treatments.
