California Grape Strike
The California Grape Strike, which began in the late 1960s and lasted into the 1970s, was a significant labor movement by farmworkers, primarily led by the United Farm Workers (UFW) union. Workers, mainly of Mexican and Filipino descent, protested against poor working conditions, low wages, and lack of rights. They organized strikes, boycotts, and marches to demand better treatment and benefits. The movement gained national attention, highlighting issues of labor rights and social justice in agriculture. It ultimately resulted in improved wages and working conditions for many farmworkers and increased support for unionization within the agricultural sector.
